Job Title: Animal Care TechnicianJob DescriptionWork as an Animal Care Technician where you will have the opportunity to work with both cats and dogs. This role focuses on animal care without customer interaction. You will play a crucial role in ensuring product performance for pet food manufacturers by maintaining a clean and organized facility, feeding and caring for the animals, and documenting their information.
Responsibilities- Maintain kennels and facility areas, ensuring they are organized, sanitized, and free of odors.
- Feed cats and dogs on schedule and ensure animals have access to clean water.
- Use provided pet toys to play and socialize animals.
- Bathe and groom animals.
- Prepare pet food for scheduled feedings.
- Weigh leftover food and dispose of food accordingly.
- Maintain documentation on dogs and cats and update this information accordingly.
- Maintain a supportive and collaborative environment.
- Provide exceptional animal care.
Essential Skills- Experience with dogs and cats, and around large groups of animals.
- Demonstrated experience with a job on your feet and cleaning duties.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- High School Diploma required.
- 6 months or more of animal care experience in a veterinary environment, kennel, or shelter is strongly preferred.
- Experience in animal husbandry, animal science, animal breeding, vivarium, veterinary, or similar fields is beneficial.
Work EnvironmentThis role supports the Palatability Assessment Resource Center (PARC) to administer taste trials with animals. The facility is advanced and team-oriented, with high expectations for constant productivity. You will be exposed to hot and cold weather year-round, and typically reach 10,000 steps daily. The schedule includes rotating weekends and holidays. The two-week rotation schedule is set, with shifts from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The facility remains open during inclement weather, and voluntary extended shifts are compensated.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.50 - $18.50Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
