Direct supervision is received from higher level Animal Services personnel. Related duties are performed as required.CITY RESIDENCY IS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATIONTypical Work ActivitiesCleans and disinfects kennels, cages, runs, cat room, dishes, and floors in the kennel area;Feeds animals daily, performs routine water checks and ensures each cage has a required identification documentation;Examines animals for health and safety issues and notifies a supervisor;Assists with euthanization of animals, as needed;Performs customer service activities including but not limited to, adoption counseling, escorting customers to the kennel area and answering questions;Monitors the animal visitation room;Launders animal supplies and bedding;Administers medications and vaccines;Performs census of impounded animals when so instructed;Completes simple forms both paper and electronic;Works within records management system;Attends training;Disposes of garbage daily;Observes all safety rules and regulations;Maintains an attitude that is conducive to a good relationships with other personnel and customers and also promotes trust;Maintains interior and exterior of facility for safety of employees and public as requested by supervisory personnel;Performs shelter enrichment activities including participating with canine playgroup sessions.Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or Equivalent; PLUSThree (3) months of full-time experience (full-time or its part-time equivalent) working at an animal shelter, animal hospital, animal boarding facility, or other similar environment involving the care and handling of animals.NOTE: Equivalent verifiable volunteer experience will be accepted in lieu of paid experience if a start date, end date, and hours worked per week are included.For full-time employees:The City of Rochester offers a complete benefits package to full-time employees including health care, dental, vision, retirement, deferred compensation plans, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, long-term disability, holidays, vacation, and sick leave.For less-than full-time employees:The City of Rochester offers numerous growth opportunities to include the potential to transition into full-time, permanent employment.AgencyCity of Rochester (NY)Address30 Church Street Room 103A Rochester, New York, 14614Phone585-###-####Website verify your email address Verify Email
