Animal Caretaker at Ahimsa Safe HavenAbout Ahimsa Safe HavenNestled in the heart of Onsted, Michigan, Ahimsa Safe Haven is a compassionate sanctuary that provides a safe, nurturing environment for over 120 rescued animals. Each resident carries a unique tale of resilience and hope, and we are committed to ensuring their ongoing care and well-being. We are currently seeking dedicated Animal Caretakers to join our team, focusing on the care of our cat, pig, and bird residents.ResponsibilitiesAs an Animal Caretaker, your key duties will include:Daily feeding of cats, pigs, and birds, ensuring their nutritional needs are met.Providing fresh water to all animal residents throughout the day.Regular cleaning and maintenance of pig pens and bird coops/runs, ensuring a clean and healthy living environment.Feed cats and provide them with fresh waterChange cat litterClean 3 buildings that house the cats daily (Sanitizing bowls, sweeping, mopping, spot cleaning as needed, etc.)Monitor cats' health and safetyProvide socialization to cats when neededObserving animal behavior and health, and reporting any concerns to the appropriate team member.Assisting with enrichment activities for the cats, pigs, and birds.Participating in training and educational opportunities to enhance animal care skills.Lift bags of food for the animals that can exceed 50 lbs.ScheduleWeekdays, Weekends, and HolidaysMornings, Afternoons, and EveningsPart-time (29 hours or less)Both morning and afternoon shifts are available.Pay Rate$15/hourQualificationsThe ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualities:A genuine love for animals and a commitment to their well-being.Experience working with cats, pigs, birds, or other kinds of animals.A basic understanding of animal behavior and nutrition.Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.Physical stamina to perform the necessary tasks.Must be able to lift over 50 lbs.Join Our TeamIf you have a passion for animal welfare and are eager to make a difference in the lives of our animal residents, we would love to hear from you.
