Sight & Sound is an organization comprised of people with diverse talents coming together as one in Christ to tell His story through who we are and what we do.We foster a culture of love for God and love for others, trust and teamwork, and a collaborative environment in which we get to do our best work every day. The Animal Handler participates in the preparation, presentation, and assists in the training of all animals used in Sight & Sound performances. There are positions currently available as well as for a January 2025 start. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in daily animal husbandry activities including, but not limited to, bathing, grooming, tack and barn, and facility clean-up.
- Position animals at their correct locations for show, theater events, and daily housing rotation per Lead Animal Caretaker, producing group, or Animal Department Supervisor's direction.
- Wear costumes as required to assist in animal handling on and off stage to maintain the integrity of the show.
- Participate in special training sessions with Animal Trainers to gain the skills necessary for riding, trained behaviors and controlling animals during rehearsals and stage performances.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the animal areas in and outside the theater.
Prerequisites:
- Patience and ability to work with all types of animals
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor on and off the stage
- Understanding of the show must go on mentality
- Ability to problem solve and stay calm under pressure
- Excellent communication skills
