Location: Ridgefield,CT, USA
Provides veterinary medical and surgical care to laboratory animals. Daily interactions providing service to Research & Development and Manufacturing & Quality departments. Duties may be done during normal business hours or Part-time to include some weekends providing clinical laboratory animal medicine, IACUC protocol development, minimal study support, animal user training and verification, and colony preventive medicine. Weekend on call duty where a veterinarian may be called to provide advice on veterinary care, and may on some occasions, provide onsite direct animal care. Identifies gaps and develops and implements animal care and use guidelines. Conducts procedures and documents performance of effective veterinary preventive medicine program for animal colony. Proactively provides uninterrupted veterinary medical and surgical support functions to LAC and GLP standards; responds to IACUC concerns in a timely and professional manner. Functions as a resource and technical leader to the IACUC, principal investigators and study directors. Mentors junior staff; participates in training Certification/License: DVM/VMD, ACLAM certification Licensed in a state in US (required) Ability to become licensed in the state of CT. Board certified in the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM). Experience in a research animal facility, pharmaceutical environment (toxicology) a plus.
