Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Animal Research Associate to support preclinical in vivo research using rodent models. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting experiments focused on testing novel therapies, understanding disease mechanisms, and evaluating safety and efficacy in rodent models. You will ensure that all procedures are carried out in compliance with ethical, regulatory, and institutional standards, while maintaining the highest levels of animal welfare.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct preclinical in vivo studies using rodent models (mice, rats, etc.), including drug dosing, behavioral assessments, surgical procedures, and tissue collection.
- Administer test compounds and monitor rodent health, behavior, and responses throughout the study.
- Collect biological samples (blood, urine, tissue) from rodents to assess pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, efficacy, and safety.
- Perform routine and complex in vivo procedures such as blood collection, injections, tumor implantation, and other surgical techniques.
- Maintain detailed experimental records, ensuring all data is accurately documented in compliance with IACUC and other regulatory guidelines.
- Analyze data from rodent studies and assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, and publications.
- Verify proper formulation of solutions for dosing.
- Perform data collection, entry and analysis; computer and mathematical applications.
- Labeling and organizing supplies needed for each study and ensuring they are available when needed at our outside in vivo facility.
- Understand and ensure compliance with IACUC protocols.
- Manage, organize, and maintain inventory of samples from studies, shipping manifests, chemicals, and storage areas
EXPERIENCE
- Required 3-5 + years industry working in a vivarium
EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required
- 2-year degree in basic science, animal science, or veterinary science is required or BS
