Job Description:

Animal Resources Team Leader- Research Animal Support Texas Medical Center-Houston , Texas - Organizes, delegates and supervises team efforts.

- May perform animal care duties, cleaning, feeding and observing animals. May conduct rounds of animal rooms as back-up to supervisors.

- Performs daily documentation of project status including standard animal room reporting. May conduct census and produce cage cards as needed.

- Receives, transports and distributes incoming animal shipments.

- May assist with technical procedures such as collecting samples, record keeping, preparing diets or providing medications to animals including topical treatments.

- May train or assist with training on technical subjects in their assigned area.

- May assist with breeding colonies.

- May assist with special projects.

- Performs other duties as assigned.

**Position Summary:**

Serves as a working lead and provides oversight to a small team or teams in specific areas.

**Position Key Accountabilities:**

**Certification/Skills:**

AALAS certification as Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT) required.

**Minimum Education:**

High school diploma or equivalent.

**Minimum Experience:**

Three (3) years of experience working in a laboratory animal facility. May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.

**Physical Requirements:**

Exerts up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds frequently and/or up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.

**Security Sensitive:**

This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code 51.215
