FUNCTION: Ensure the smooth operation of assigned department; create high sales volume area with a pleasant atmosphere, high employee morale, and good customer service.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides a continuous flow of communication with buyers and managers on the merchandising of assigned departments.
2. Informs buyers of fast and slow merchandise and requests by customers.
3. Ensures proper presentation of merchandise; including but not limited to ticketing, signing, sizing, and display. Responsible for maintenance of all signage in department.
4. Works with buyers and managers in preparation for in store contest and sales promotions; also works with buyers and managers on visual fixtures, merchandise layout, and displays.
5. Trains and informs sales associates. Topics include but not limited to fashion trends, new merchandise, advertised items, customer service, salesmanship, and commission goals.
6. Must have complete understanding of register procedures, policies, and paperwork.
7. Prepares the department for receipt and placement of daily merchandise shipments.
8. Delegates and controls the accuracy of all departmental paperwork. Responsible for final fiscal inventory within 1% shrinkage.
9. Recognizes departmental employees' job performance and recommends appropriate action to manager. Performs evaluations on Assistant Area Merchandiser and sales associates in assigned departments.
10. Responsible for assigned department appearance and personnel activity.
11. Understand and carry out all company policies and procedures.
OPERATIONS:
12. Assists in store meetings and training sessions.
13. Motivates sales staff to encourage high sales productivity.
14. Schedules and supervises assigned departments to ensure adequate floor coverage, proper service, and the delegation of necessary duties.
15. Submits requisitions for sales associates to Office Manager/or Store Manager for HR. Responsible for the training and placement of personnel in assigned area.
16. Ensures customer service with a smile at all times in their department and at the store level when acting as store manager.
17. Opens and closes store as assigned by the Store Manager.
18. Approves checks and employee transactions.
19. Promotes the opening of charge accounts and gift card purchase.
20. Acts to prevent shoplifting and internal shrinkage. Works with security to report matters of dishonesty.
21. Works in sales capacity or cashier capacity as needed.
22. Acts as the store manager in the absence of the store manager.
23. Take inventories and maintains unit control records/ reports as requested by management or buyers.
