Position Title Annual Giving & Engagement Officer Position Number 898979 School/Division Office of Vice Pres. of Development (division) Department Office for Development and Alumni Affairs Full-Time or Part-Time Full-Time Description
Reporting to the Director of Annual Giving and Stewardship and in conjunction with the Director for Alumni Affairs, the Annual Giving & Engagement Officer will be responsible for leading the student phonathon program (Call with Pride) and student philanthropy campaign (Senior Class gift). The incumbent will also be assisting with the young alumni program (GOLD), annual Honor Roll of Donors, crowdfunding campaigns and giving days. In addition, this role will design monthly e-newsletters; coordinate social media efforts and contribute to the publication of the website. Evening and weekend hours will be occasionally required.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Oversees the general operations of the phone program, managing student callers, student supervisors, establishing calling schedules, and managing computer database files.
* Interviews, hires, trains, and manages student callers and supervisors.
* Ensures attendance and success of callers by monitoring caller stats, providing monthly evaluations to callers, coaching for improvement, and implementing an incentive plan to motivate callers.
* Collaborates with Development staff to maintain accurate and efficient pledge processes including mailing of pledge reminders.
* Reviews ongoing phonathon results against departmental objectives.
* Implements strategies to improve overall efficiency and performance of the program.
* Collaborates with Alumni Affairs staff in managing the Graduates of the Last Decade committee and engage young alumni in giving back to Hofstra.
* Provides support for additional alumni groups and committees as needed.
* Oversees student philanthropy campaigns and Senior Class Gift to educate students about the importance of giving back, including recruiting, managing, and motivating student volunteers, and developing marketing and solicitation materials.
* Assists with creating and publishing content on all social media platforms.
* Maintains and updates donor records in database.
* Oversees Walk with Pride brick program.
* Collaborates with the Development staff to prepare the annual Honor Roll of Donors.
* Attends events and meetings, as needed.
* Prepares queries/reports and mail merges for pledge reminders, renewals, annual giving, and membership solicitations.
* Monitors all incoming gifts to assure proper routing, coding, and processing of donations.
* Ensures timely responses to inquiries from annual mailings including planned giving, major gift opportunities, and other special requests as needed in a timely basis.
* Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree required.
* Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in fundraising/development, nonprofit management, or other charitable programs.
* Demonstrates proactive self-starter qualities and possesses the ability to work in a fast-paced collaborative environment.
* Exhibits excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
* Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
* Possesses proficient computer knowledge, with the ability to learn and utilize new software.
* Exhibits advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
* Displays proficient knowledge of social media platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
* Proficiency with Raiser's Edge preferred.
* Proficient experience with Phonathon platform.
* Experience managing students or volunteers.

Salary/Salary Range $58,500

Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education.
