Postion: Building Secretary at Boiling Springs High School Work Schedule: 7.5 hrs/day, 10 month position - (209 days) Reports to: Prinicipal at Boiling Springs high School Closing Date: Open until filled Pay Rate: $17.69 to 20.35 contingent on school based experience Job Summary: Assist students, staff, administrators, and the community with any questions and/or concerns regarding the district. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- One (1) to three (3) years' experience in a related office/secretarial role
- Superior proficiency of office methods, procedures, equipment and software such as Microsoft Office and Google Docs
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with the proven ability to meet deadlines

Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Secretarial certification or additional training
- Associates degree in Business, Communications, Marketing or related field
- Prior experience in a school setting maintaining attendance, student cafeteria accounts or tax accounting disciplines according to the PA Department of Education.
Primary Duties:
- Operate telephone and relevant telecommunication devices, receiving phone calls and transferring to appropriate personnel; assist personnel with the operation of phones and voicemail.
- Maintain all attendance files, produce a daily attendance bulletin, and prepare various letters and citations for illegal absences, submitting letters to parents/guardians when necessary.
- Maintain student biographical information, entering new or withdrawal students and submitting letters to parents/guardians.
- Maintain communication with students, staff, and visitors and conserve/decorate front office, ensuring a safe, clean environment conducive to learning.
- Ensure students receive bus passes, lunch tickets for free or reduced meals, work permits, and homework assignments when absent from school.
- Assist the Principal and Assistant Principal with the preparation of the Student Handbook, editing and updating as necessary.
- Perform secretarial duties for the Principal and/or Assistant Principal, when needed such as typing, copying, filing, faxing, etc.
- Responsible for making all P.A. announcements for student body.
- Maintain telephone message system to inform students, parents, and staff of any changes in the district's schedules such as school closings and athletic events.
- Manages, sorts and files incoming files and records.
- May collect fees and payments; provides receipts and other records for monetary transactions.
Secondary Duties:
- Perform duties of the Administrative Assistant in her absence, which includes having a complete knowledge of grading and discipline.
