Position Type: Support Staff/Teacher AssistantDate Posted: 6/14/2024Location: District WideJob description Positions available for AM or PM paraprofessional position the hours for AM are 8 am to 12:00 pm or 10:35 am to 2:35 pm (hours may vary by school). Para's are responsible for working with a classroom teacher, and with another part time paraprofessional in the classroom. Students are aged three to five years old and there are 15 students per classroom. This position will consist of assisting the children in learning class material using the teacher's lesson plans, recording student progress, and providing students with individualized attention Responsibilities and Duties:
- Sign in and report to the classroom at designated times
- Check classroom supplies-paper towels, cleaning spray, gloves, wipes, etc.
- Turn on Computers
- Pick up breakfasts and prepare tables
- Check folders for any papers/forms/letters from parents
- Make sure that all students have lunch, contact parents if lunch is not in backpack and was not ordered
- Mark lunch attendance form and student attendance cards
- Keep a log of all permission slips and other returned forms
- Interact with children in during classroom activities, meals etc.
- Assist with bathroom (changing diapers if necessary) and hand washing
- Clean and disinfect tables before breakfast and lunch
- Follow the classroom teacher's lead - assist with lesson planning and preparing materials to be used
- Rub students back to help soothe them to nap
- Sign out at designated times
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: A minimum of 60 college credits or an Associates (or higher) degree or successful passing of the PARAPRO Exam
- Experience : A minimum of two years experience working with preschool aged children and 12 credits in early childhood or developmental psychology
- Technical Skills : Knowledge of using computers and Promethean Board (beneficial)This is a public school system, Para's are part of the GFT Union and Part-Time Para's are provided with sick and personal days.
