Position Type: High School/Middle School Teaching/Various StudiesDate Posted: 3/27/2023Location: Central OfficeDate Available: 07/01/2023CLASS TITLE: Teacher REPORTS TO: Principal SUPERVISES: N/A JOB FUNCTION: Teach and implement the program of instruction assigned to him/her as adopted by the local and State Boards of Education and statues of Kentucky. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Accept assigned responsibilities for the discipline, attendance, cumulative records, reports, grouping and progress of the pupils according to state and local guidelines.
  • Accept assigned responsibilities for the safekeeping of school furniture, instructional supplies, materials, equipment, and fostering a healthy classroom environment.
  • Be present at school at the assigned time and perform all duties prescribed by the Principal and Board policy.
  • Attend regular and special meetings of the faculty called by the Principal, all meetings and conferences called by the Superintendent or the administrative staff, Parent-Teacher group meetings, and professional meetings according to the adopted school calendar.
  • Remain at school the entire school day unless excused by the Principal for emergency reasons.
  • Prepare proper reports, schedules, and lesson plans well in advance for use in implementing the instructional program.
  • Submit to the Principal for approval, by the end of the first two weeks of school, a syllabus and activities for the term or year with enrollments as requested.
  • Keep class records and grades, pupil attendance and other pupil-related records and reports at school during the regular school day.
  • Contact the Principal or his designated representative as soon as possible when illness or an emergency necessitates absence from school.
  • Secure a physical examination, all transcripts, certificates, necessary records, and state and federal forms required by law and/or School Board Regulations as required for employment.
  • Report any unusual occurrence or event to the Principal immediately (riot, epidemic, bomb threat, thefts, child abuse, suicide threat, etc.)
  • Become acquainted with the parents through parent-teacher conferences with other appropriate methods.
  • Keep an accurate account of all activity funds as designated by the school Principal.
  • Designate payroll deductions.
  • Be a positive public relations agent for the school's programs and activities.
  • Assist in the auditory and visual screening of pupils.
  • Accept assigned responsibilities for testing and evaluation of pupil progress.
  • Participate in the selection, adoption, and inventory of textbooks.
  • Initiate and implement innovative techniques and programs of instruction.
  • Assist in curriculum development and evaluation.
  • Implement all rules and regulations, policies, and administrative guidelines as adopted by the School Board for the district.
  • Supervise bus duty, halls and restrooms when needed.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Principal, administrative staff, Superintendent or the Board of Education.
