Safely perform plant production processes while adhering to all plant safety regulations. 2 graveyard shifts (10pm-6:30am) and 2 swing shift (2pm-10:30pm)Primary Responsibilities: 40% Production: Performing and have certifications in all plant production processes: IKE, Acidifications, Separations, Beta, Reductions, Tetra formulation, etc. Wastewater treatment, including sampling and taking measurements. Dilution of production chemicals. Shipping and receiving for the plant, including inventory counts (Kanban system) of all products, supplies, chemicals and finished goods. Operate a forklift in order to receive supplies and store finished product. (Lead operators perform this function.)15%-5S/Maintenance:General 5S housekeeping duties and facility maintenance. Also serve as a backup 5S auditor for the shift supervisor, if needed. Completes maintenance inspections and keep the equipment calibration logs updated. Troubleshoot equipment used to perform the above duties and perform any minor maintenance required. (Lead operators perform this function.)10%-Instrumentation and Trials: Assist the advanced products process chemist in running trials. Entry of required production information into the appropriate checklists. Dilution of production chemicals. Shipping and receiving for the plant, including inventory counts (Kanban system) of all products, supplies, chemicals and finished goods. Operate a forklift in order to receive supplies and store finished product. (Lead operators perform this function.)10%- SafetyInspect sensors and safety equipment. Ensure safety communication board is up to date and update if necessary. Assist with writing safety SOPs when needed.10%-ERPUse D365 to scan and receive items for the plant, including inventory counts of all products, supplies, chemicals and finished goods. Entry of required production information into the appropriate D365 checklists. Dilution of production chemicals. 10%-LeadershipLeadership: General onboarding and training of all new operators including giving the final certification test. Assist with writing SOPs when needed. Also responsible for supervising and training new hires on forklifts, if neededPerform leadership tasks through positive communication and coordination between the production supervisor, crew lead, and operator team. Help implement and communicate production, safety, quality, and food safety issues. Create an environment of problem solving by utilizing the Kaizen log and other communication tools and encouraging others to do the same. Assist the Production Supervisor with other leadership duties as requested.5%-other duties as assignedConditions of Employment:
  • Work a 40-hour work week. (Hours worked in excess of 8 per day, as required to finish a batch operation, are paid as overtime per the current Union Agreement.)
  • This position requires long periods of standing and the ability to lift 55 pounds (with or without assistance).
  • Willing/able to work with chemicals.
  • Must comply with all John I. Haas, Inc. policies and procedures, including successful passing of a pre-employment drug test.
  • Must comply with our Integrated Management System (IMS) and be trained on procedures applicable to the requirements of the position, including managing significant quality, environmental, and food safety aspects.
  • Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills required of the Position)1. Basic knowledge of machinery, equipment and computer spreadsheets.2. High School education preferred.3. Grade 1: Has been a grade 2 or 3 within the AP plant, respectively, for a minimum of 4 years.4. Grade 2: Has been a grade 2 or 3 within the AP plant, respectively, for a minimum of 4 years. 5. Must be able to adequately perform all job duties at current grade level before being eligible for advancement to the next grade level. Eligibility for advancement is also dependent on department needs and ability to train (and certify when appropriate) on upper grade responsibilities.This form indicates the general nature and level of work performed by employees with this job title.
