Appointment Type Full Time Regular Exempt/Non-Exempt Exempt General Function The Application Developer creates and maintains computer software and associated documentation. The Application Developer participates in the systems design process and accepts assigned responsibility for projects which may include maintenance, major modifications, or development of systems.Description of Primary Duties Application Developers (AD) work with other ADs and Systems Analysts (SA) to write code to create new custom web and database applications and support existing custom web and database applications. They are also needed to write integrations between third-party applications or between custom and third-party applications. ADs work with SAs on various tasks and projects which might include conversions from one system to another, database queries, database code, and other technical tasks that require code or script writing.This position requires working on campus for the first six months, after which eligibility for remote work will be assessed.The posted salary of $54,609 is firm for this position.Minimum Acceptable Qualifications Education: An Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and the specified experience as outlined in the Job Family 3 Knowledge Equivalencies Chart, is required. A Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in computer-related courses is preferred.Experience: Experience in business application programming with fluency exhibited in two or more of the following: PL/SQL, T-SQL, Java, Groovy, C#, Python or similar languages is required. Experience is required with either a) RDBMS, SQL, and development of complex data-structures, or b) web development utilizing REST APIs within a JavaScript framework, which includes jQuery, Node.js, Vue.js, Angular, or React. Experience in programming computer applications in a team-oriented environment is preferred. Work experience in higher education is preferred.Skills: Proficiency in thinking logically and creatively is required. Proficiency in understanding coding techniques, testing strategies, and application development is required. Proficiency in creating and maintaining database queries is required. The ability to maintain confidentiality in regard to information processed, stored, or accessed by the systems is required. Effective verbal and written communication skills are required.
