Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled Applications Engineer II to provide top-tier technical support for CNC machines, both in-person and over the phone. This role involves conducting time studies, test cuts, and machine demonstrations tailored to customer specifications. You will play a vital role in optimizing manufacturing processes and enhancing customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities:
- Independently execute application engineering tasks while prioritizing based on company objectives.
- Design and fabricate fixtures and workholding for demos, test cuts, and turnkey solutions.
- Troubleshoot and define complex manufacturing and machining processes.
- Conduct time estimates for customer parts, maintaining a 10% tolerance.
- Utilize CAPPS conversational programming, CAM systems, and direct G-Code/Macro programming to generate CNC programs.
- Setup CNC machines, including 5-axis and mill-turn configurations, with the appropriate programs, tooling, workpieces, and fixtures.
- Inspect finished parts for quality and accuracy.
- Create engineering proposals and generate comprehensive technical documentation.
- Setup and program CMM (coordinate measuring machine) for precise measurements.
- Collaborate with ASM to actively consult customers on their technical needs and generate order intake.
- Provide training to customers post-installation to ensure smooth operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or a related field preferred; additional machining knowledge is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in CNC applications and manufacturing processes.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in part processing, CNC programming, and machine setup; basic understanding of metallurgy.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with CAPPS programming and CAM systems is advantageous.
- Organizational Skills: Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Work Ethic: Willingness to work 40 hours a week with the availability for overtime as needed.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for troubleshooting and optimization.
Work Environment:
- Exposure to manufacturing and machining environments, which may include noise, chemicals, and heavy equipment.
- General office environment within our client's facility.
Physical Demands:
- Frequent travel, operating a vehicle, standing, walking, bending, and lifting objects.
- Ability to perform repetitive movements with hands, arms, and torso.
- Occasional lifting or moving of items up to 50 lbs.
