CIRCOR Portland Valve was organized in 1973, originating in Portland Maine and moved its operations to Warren, Massachusetts at the end of 2011. CIRCOR Portland Valve is a major valve supplier on the Submarine & Destroyer programs. Every submarine and aircraft carrier in the U.S. fleet as well as many other U.S. naval vessels depends on the pumps & valves manufactured at Warren. POSITION DETAILS Position Summary The Application Engineer is responsible for supporting and working with customers which include distributors, agents, and end user accounts. The products are highly engineered positive displacement screw pumps where our company has a long history of solving difficult fluid handling challenges in a wide range of industries. Under direction of the VP, Strategic Business Development, Global Defense, the Application Engineer responds to customer inquiries, creates or identifies solutions, and identifies equipment configurations to customer needs and establishes pricing for these products and solutions. Also, ensures the correct and proper equipment is specified in the best interests of the customer and of CIRCOR. Principal Activities
  • Provides technical sales and customer support for our industrial 2-screw pump products.
  • Reviews customer requirements and recommends applicable products and solutions.
  • Analyzes specifications, application data sheets, inquiry data sheets or other similar documents to determine if the desired specifications can be met.
  • Determine best pumping solution based on the customer's operating conditions, including pump and motor sizing and material selections.
  • Prepares and submits timely customer quotations.
  • Review engineering/technical specifications and ensure our solution is compliant.
  • Serve as the key customer liaison, working cross-functionally with Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, Project Management, Operations, our vendors, and our global field sales resources to create tailored solutions.
  • Assists with order entry and contract review.
  • Manages submittal drawings and other documents to support the quote process.
  • Completes and maintains all required paperwork, quotes, quote log, and other required documentation.
  • Works directly with our customers (both internal and external), potential customers, and our outside sales team.
  • Learns and understands customer's requirements and application to make appropriate product recommendations.
  • Responds to various technical questions regarding products and systems solutions.
  • Assist or leads program management of large orders and projects.
Job Requirements: CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS Knowledge Skills & Abilities
  • 3-5 years' experience with engineered fluid handling equipment, pump experience preferred.
  • Must have demonstrated good interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated high level of proficiency with computers including MS Office Applications, sales order systems, etc.
  • Must be solutions oriented.
  • Must have global exposure
