We are looking for an Application Operator to join our Smartpress team in Duncan, South Carolina. You'll be part of a talented group that collaborates to deliver world-class products to our customers. In this role, you will produce WIP and Finished goods from printed and raw materials. Work involved for the Application Operator will be completing machine and hand application tasks including applying adhesives, magnets and velcro to the backs of products we produce. Other applications include heat bending of plastics, attaching cardboard easels, brackets and fasteners. Cross training work is required in other finishing areas, including sewing, banner stand creation, grommeting, applying vinyl decals, lamination and other various finishing roles as needed.

Shifts available: Monday through Friday 6:45 AM - 3:15 PM with the intent to move to three 12-hour shifts with a rotating schedule every 4 months

A variety of these traits will help land you this job. If you have:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • any experience with tape machines, magnet and velcro cutters is a plus
  • 1 year production experience

On top of that you must:

  • be self-motivated, a fast learner, and show initiative to seek out customer and corporate needs
  • plan, prioritize, coordinate, and manage your own work
  • have the ability to work independently, make decisions and solve moderate level problems independently, effectively and creatively
  • complete projects accurately within deadlines, while meeting company quality standards
  • have basic computer skills
  • have the ability to lift, push, pull, twist and bend, kneel and reach throughout the workday.
  • be able to use foot or knee controls of industrial sewing machines.
  • be able to lift 20 lbs.

In this position you'll:

  • operate various types of manual, semi-auto or automatic machines in the application process.
  • preform daily basic maintenance of the machines.
  • track time, materials and productivity through internal computer programs.
  • communicate with management, peers and clients to ensure proper creation of the product.
  • track the inventory and communicate with the inventory specialist department needs.
  • peer train others as needed in the area when extra help is needed from temps and other department staff.
  • maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • inspect the product before and after processing and reject defective parts according to quality requirements.
  • meet daily production goals.
  • participate in installation and packaging of products according to department standards.
  • actively participate in the resolution of problems by improving processes and bringing ideas to the table.
  • follow all safety protocols.
  • perform miscellaneous projects and complete various tasks as requested by management.
