Position Details: Title: Applications Engineer Location: Charlotte, NC Shift: Mon-Friday 1st shift, but flexible to meet customer requirements Compensation: $35-$45/hr depending on qualifications and experience! + OT! Travel: Up to 50% travel to US customer locations (possibly Mexico or Canada). Airfare is paid by the company and all other expenses are reimbursed to a company credit card. Per diem rate for weekday and weekend work provided! For the first 3-6 months, you will be on-site at the Charlotte facility. Position Description: The Applications Engineer is responsible for the on-site completion of the Application Department's portion of the turnkey product by developing processes to manufacture customer parts to the quoted cycle time and quality requirements. Responsible for the execution of the turnkey, ensuring that it meets customer requirements, and is on time and within budget. Sets tooling and creates machine programs to accurately manufacture the part. Proves quality and cycle time by performing an SPC runoff of the process. Troubleshoot turnkey-related problems and provide machining solutions. Application of gauging techniques (including CMM, hand gauges, etc.) to verify turnkey process certification. Perform pre-acceptance and final acceptance of turnkey machines both at Chiron and the customer's facilities. Assist in the installation of machines at the customer's site. Travel to the customer's location to provide onsite application assistance. Conduct training classes for customer personnel. Assist service personnel, customers and distributors troubleshoot machines. Work with Proposal Engineers / Sales staff on application processes for new machines and quoting purposes. Answer customer programming and application questions by phone. Assist in creating and modifying procedures for the qualification and installation of machines. Requirements: Company is looking to add a skilled Applications Engineer to their team in Charlotte! CNC programming experience (Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhein), CAD, and MasterCam software experience are a must. A four-year degree is not required, but a technical or associate's degree will set you apart. Thorough knowledge and application of SPC techniques for evaluating and troubleshooting process variation. Has a wide variety of part-type experience in the manufacturing of chassis and powertrain components in the automotive and/or aerospace industry. High understanding of feed and speeds and types of cutting tools for a wide variety of parts and material types. A high degree of understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic fixturing. Has the ability to troubleshoot fixtures to determine the root cause of failure. Ability to analyze and interpret pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical schematics and drawings. Understanding of the ISO9001 quality standards.
