ResponsibilitiesSUMMARY: The Applications Programmer provides application support of the Athena IDX Registration/Scheduling and Billing Accounts Receivable systems. The incumbent is responsible for performing functions of analysis, design, maintenance, troubleshooting and implementation of software and application upgrades. Works as a liaison between Business team and Information Technology (IT) team and vendor to assist in the implementation of enhancements for system performance and ease in workflow. Works closely with the testing team to ensure smooth and uneventful application upgrades. Job Duties & Essential Functions:
- Technical Support and maintenance of Athena IDX BAR, TES Editing, ETM, DBMS and Cache, WEB applications, Optum/Claims Manager, EDI and claim form production, BAR dictionaries and Security.
- Improving workflow and efficiency in departments by creating criteria driven views that can be easily opened and downloaded.
- Manage ETM dictionaries, user access, purge jobs and issue resolution.
- Create and edit DBMS queries and screen formats.
- Create cache queries which can be downloaded to Excel.
- Provide support for check reconciliation, 835 and 837 functions.
- Statements and dunning table adjustments and testing.
- Weekly collection agency file creation and upload to agencies.
- Coordinate upgrades and Perform Enterprise Index testing for application and license updates.
- Create weekly report of Duplicate patient resolutions for Patient Access.
- Using MS Word, create and run scripts in character cell that update patient registration and financial information.
- UI and platform migration testing and issue resolution.
- Ability to analyze and troubleshoot all Athena IDX database issues
- Support for SQL, databases, networking, modality integration, MS windows.
- Technical/functional troubleshooting and data analysis to determine root causes of software problems, including issue definition, root cause analysis and resolution.
- Proactively identify and make recommendations on opportunities for automation of tasks and workflow improvement.
- Respond promptly to client needs, including resolving escalated support calls, and solicit feedback to improve service, meet commitments and provide follow-up within a timely manner.
- Develop and maintain proficiency in the company's software solutions, solution methodologies, core technologies and financial/patient services. Ensure programs meet technical specifications and standards.
- Code, test, debug, implement, and document moderately complex programs or technical configuration.
- Design and execute unit, system and integration test plans for new developments/releases/reports.
- Maintain technical documentation based on standard operating procedures in support of the assigned application.
- Perform application maintenance activities and provide production support.
- Participate in focus groups and workshops, attend vendor training and demonstrations.
- Work closely with business analysts on the implementation of newly acquired practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequired Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field. In lieu of Bachelor's Degree, Associate's Degree and an additional 5 years of technical support of applications software.
- 3 years of technical support of applications software.
- Working knowledge of SQL, databases, networking, modality integration, MS windows
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills.
Preferred Education and Qualifications:
- Experience with HL7 interfaces and API.
- Hands-on experience using healthcare related financial systems in a support, operational or implementation role to ensure maximization of cash flow while improving patient, physician and practice management relations.
