General Summary of Duties: (This does not include the list of all job duties)
Screens daily appointment list for all physicians. Ensures that all patients coming in have active insurance coverage and that patient balances are current.
Examples of Duties:
* Receives daily appointment list from computer operator, formats disks and prints schedule from computer
* Verifies all insurance on patients scheduled to come in
* Documents information received from insurance company in computer
* Verifies that patients are not in collections or have been dismissed from the clinic
* Verifies that the patient type is correct in computer to ensure proper fees are generated
* Screens patient accounts for any payments due from patient
* Contracts patient about past due balance and documents payment arrangement in computer
* Verifies that all claims addresses are correct to ensure proper billing
* Verifies all workers' compensation and auto liability accounts
* Performs related work as required
Knowledge:
* Knowledge of different types of insurance companies
* Skill in operating a computer, calculator, and photocopy machine
* Must be detailed and multi-task oriented
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required
Prior experience as a Medical Receptionist preferred. Minimum 1 year experience in customer service. Computer experience required
