The purpose of this job is to assist technical work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground and overhead electrical transmission equipment. Complies with safety standards and operating policies.

* Assists in installing, repairing, and troubleshooting underground electric lines, overhead electric lines, and transmission equipment.
* Operates specialized electrical and construction equipment.
* Attends training on linework and safety.
* Stocks unit truck and organizes work materials.
* Documents work and material use.
* Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience - An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered
Education and Experience
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* 1 year of related experience.
Licenses or Certifications
* Valid driver's license.
* Class A CDL with combination trailer endorsement and no airbrake restriction within 6 months of hire.
* Department of Transportation (DOT) medical certification.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
* Positions assigned to work on-call in the Utilities Department are required to maintain a telephone and permanent residence within 50 road miles of City Hall, 701 E. Broadway, Columbia, MO, within 90 days of hire.
