Salary: $15.45 HourlyLocation : Miramar, FLJob Type: Part-TimeDepartment: UTILITIESOpening Date: 01/02/2025Closing Date: 1/16/2025 11:59 PM EasternJob Summary **Must be a City of Miramar Resident**This trainee-level position receives on-the-job training in a designated field and performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled work involving the operation, maintenance, and repair of City-owned and operated vehicles and equipment as necessary to ensure safe effective operations. Reports to a designated supervisor. Essential Functions
- Assists workshop staff to ensure duties are being carried out efficiently and accurately.
- Assists workshop staff with preventative maintenance and servicing for all city fleet.
- Properly maintains materials, tools and equipment.
- Learns and applies correct use of tools and equipment.
- Assists in the securing and lockup of vehicles that are under workshop control.
- Assists in cleaning and keeping the mechanical workshops and surrounds tidy.
- Assists with programming the service schedule for all city fleet
- Assists with maintaining daily records of labor and materials used.
- Assists with the planning and procurement of materials and consumables as required.
- Cleans vehicle and machine interiors, exteriors, engines and engine components.
- Examines vehicle and machine systems.
- Periodically servicing of vehicle and machines.
- Replaces and replenishes of components and units.
- Identifies problems and repairs faults in vehicles, machine components and systems.
- Conducts diagnostic tests.
- Evaluates information and interprets technical information.
- Maintains and develops positive relations with customers and clients.
- Attend and complete relevant on-the-job training as required.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Ages 18 - 25
- Mechanically inclined and strong desire to learn
- Acceptable drug test results, background check, and fit for duty evaluation upon job offer.
- Physically able to perform trade.
- Transportation to attend classes and shop assignments.
- Ability to commit to a 2 year work contract.
- 2 letters of recommendation; 1 one letter of moral character and 1 letter from reference that supports candidate's ability to perform duties of the program.
Position Requirements/Qualifications PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Requires light physical effort including lifting up to 25 pounds. May require occasional crouching, kneeling, bending, or stooping.
