  • Assists in the care and management of patients participating in clinical trials, providing education and support throughout the treatment process. Collaborates with physicians and clinical research staff to administer therapeutic measures, manage clinical trials, and ensure compliance with regulations and protocols.
EDUCATION AND LICENSURE
  • Graduate degree in nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, master's degree in nursing, or post-masters nurse practitioner certificate program
  • Current license to practice in Florida, with prescriptive privileges or eligible to apply
CERTIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
  • Certification from AANP, ANCC, or ONCC
  • BLS certification
  • Fluency in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Leadership skills to direct others towards objectives
  • Analytical skills to evaluate patient status and monitor quality of care
  • Fiscal skills to manage costs and revenue
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS PATIENT CARE
  • Assess patient physical and psychosocial status through interview, health history, physical examination, and diagnostic studies
  • Write prescriptions for medications, blood products, and diagnostic studies
  • Assist in determining patient eligibility for clinical trials
  • Interpret and evaluate findings of studies and tests
  • Relay patient care information to collaborating physicians
CLINICAL TRIALS
  • Administer therapeutic measures and obtain specimens as prescribed
  • Dictate follow-up letters to referring physicians
  • Assist in managing clinical trials, including adverse event reporting and compliance with Good Clinical Practices and Code of Federal Regulations
COMMUNICATION AND COLLABORATION
  • Document and report patient care in an accurate and timely manner
  • Triage patients to determine urgency of physician evaluation
  • Meet with the public to market and promote cancer treatment
  • Assist staff in times of crisis or emergency
  • Conduct ongoing communication with research partners, trial sponsors, CROs, and IRBs
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
  • Determine work priorities, assign work, and ensure proper completion of work assignments
  • Comply with federal and state laws, regulations, and institutional policies
  • Maintain accurate and organized records and equipment
  • Assist in training new employees
  • Manage toxicities of chemotherapy and its administration
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in oncology and knowledge of chemotherapeutic agents
  • Ability to assist in training new employees
