Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:The Aquatics Coordinator works closely with the Aquatics Director to provide safe, engaging programs. There is a strong commitment to safety, as well as to creating innovative aquatic programs. The best candidate will have current lifeguard certifications and a willingness to be trained in YMCA swim lesson instruction. This position is a hands-on job with most hours spent lifeguarding and performing administrative tasks.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Develop and coordinate pool and staff schedules.
  • Acts as a replacement or find replacements for schedule gaps for Lifeguards
  • Assist with registration process.
  • Obtain and maintain program supply inventory and disburse to instructors.
  • Ensure staff have their certifications, tracking and maintaining the certifications for audit
  • Complete administrative tasksgathering data, completing paperwork, filing
  • Attend all staff meetings
  • Assist with tracking of certifications
  • Other duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Visual and auditory ability to observe and to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation.
  • Ability to lead and interact in group activities and perform related physical skills.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Ability to climb, push, and pull.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects up to 20 pounds
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 1 year of administrative experience
  • 1 year of lifeguard experience
  • Lifeguard Certification
  • Great organizational skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Ability to interact with staff, participants, and parents
  • Currently certified in CPR/AED and first aid, or be certified within 30 days of hire.
  • Experience working in multi-cultural communities is preferred.
