Aquatics Deck SupervisorDepartment: Center StaffEmployment Type: Part TimeLocation: Burbank YMCADescriptionLocations: ReadingPosition Summary:Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, this position is responsible for managing the deck operations, ensuring the safety of all patrons, enforcing pool rules, and implementing the branch emergency protocols as needed. Seeking applicant for weekdays 3pm-7pm as well as Saturday mornings to early afternoon hours.Essential responsibilities/principal activities:
- Coordinate and manage all lifeguard activities including lifeguard breaks and rotations.
- Coordinate and manage all swim lessons activities including directing parents and participants, and supervise programs for quality and safety.
- Enforce pool rules, policies, and procedures. Handle issues as they arise in a professional manner.
- Conduct and participate in all branch safety and quality drills.
- Provide staff with coaching and feedback on their performance.
- Responsible for regularly testing pool chemicals to ensure they comply with state codes and regulations.
- Recognize emergencies or potential incidents and address them immediately.
- Know and activate the branch and pool EAP when needed.
- Perform assists or rescues as needed.
- Provide care such as, CPR, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen as needed.
- Complete incident reports in a timely and effective manner.
- Ensure a clean and safe pool environment at all times.
- Maintain a clear and consistent line of communication with all supervisors.
- Attend all required monthly and yearly in-service trainings.
- Engage in active listening with members in order to build relationships, understand each individual's goals and interests and take the initiative to assist in the achievement of those goals.
- Maintain a professional image and manner consistent with the YMCA mission and goals at all times.
- Other duties as assigned.
