Description:
Instruct participants of a wide and varying age range, who are participating in the swim lesson program.
Duties:
* Teach proper form and technique within class outline.
* Demonstrate, explain, and instruct in an informative manner to children and adults.
* Teach and maintain effectiveness of the swim lesson program.
* Maintain class rosters, lesson plans, mid-season progress reports, and report cards.
* Maintain appropriate contact with parents of swim lesson participants and address questions or concerns of parents in a timely manner.
* Ensure swim lesson equipment is in good working order before use.
* Wear Assigned uniforms at all times while on duty.
* Attend all pertinent departmental/park district meetings and in-house training sessions.
* Conduct self according to the policies and procedures established by the park district.
* Participate in park district Safety and Training Program to ensure that work performed and services provided are implemented in a safe manner.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Education:
* Junior in High School or above.
* High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Experience:
* Teaching swim lessons preferred.
* Working with children preferred.
Knowledge:
* Lifeguard standards preferred.
* Water Safety Instructor standards preferred.
* Bi-lingual Spanish desirable.
* Swim lesson plan development/execution.
Certification:
* Lifeguard Certification preferred.
* Water Safety Instructor Certification preferred.
* CPR/First Aid/AED Certification required.
Hours:
Tuesday - Friday 4:00pm - 8:00pm, Saturday 9:00am - 3:00pm
