DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY:This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives. 2. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.3. Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.4. Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance.5. Supports YMCA healthy eating and physical activities standards through coaching, mentoring, and monitoring menu quality6. Conducts lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR trainings.7. Assists to create and schedule swim classes, water fitness classes, and swim team practices and meets.8. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.9. Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.10. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.11. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.12. Assists with Program Committee meetings13. Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program. 14. Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills required to perform well; uses best practices and demonstrates up-to-date knowledge and skills in technology.QUALIFICATIONS:•One to two years related experience preferred; as an aquatics coordinator or supervisor.•CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen and current YMCA Lifeguard or equivalent within 30 days of hire. •Completion of YMCA Aquatic certifications.•Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.•Completes Praesidium within 7 days of hire date.•Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.•Understands the YMCA is a public accommodation committed to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:•Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.•Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight.•Must be able to lift and carry supplies weighing up to 20 pounds. •Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.•Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.•Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency•The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
