Job purpose
The AR (Accounts Receivable) Client Service Representative is a position within the Client Service Team that is an additional level of follow up on accounts receivable with the knowledge and capability to analyze and work the AR to the level of summarization and communicating with carriers, clients, upper management. Primarily responsible for collection of accounts receivable for multiple carriers, in a timely, systematic fashion. Primary goals are to facilitate increased cash flow and decrease AR days on assigned client accounts.
Duties and responsibilities
* Call insurance carriers for status of submitted claims and resolve denied claims, request Explanation of Benefits, verify patient responsibility, verify patient eligibility, etc
* Conduct necessary investigation and follow up on unpaid, self-pay and/or litigation accounts using resources provided by the Manager of Client Services
* Complete and submit appeals according to specific carrier guidelines
* Request medical records and other necessary documents from facilities
* Filing, faxing, and scanning confidential medical documents
* Communicate directly with patients to handle any inquires
* Establish payment plans for patients accordingly to client specified guidelines
* Process patient credit card payments
* Noting and handling patient accounts according to departmental/company guidelines
* Special projects for clients assigned by the Manager of Client Services
* Answer various phone calls (Manager of Client Service line)
* Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent
* 1-2 years of health care and/or medical experience preferred
* Knowledge of health insurance billing and collections preferred
* Type 40 wpm
* MS Office application skills - MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook
* Strong organization skills and attention to detail
* Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines and prioritize projects/tasks
* Excellent communication skills (both verbally and written)
Physical Requirements
Physical ability to sit, talk, hear for extended periods throughout the work day; stand, walk, push/pull, bend, stoop, kneel and reach on a regular to seldom basis. Repetitive hand motions on a frequent basis including fingering, grasping and handling. Ability to read handwritten and typed documents on paper and/or on computer screens. Ability to lift or carry object weighing up to 20 lbs.
