Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced ArcGIS and ArcFM Support & Development Specialist to join our team and provide development and technical support for Con Edison's Enterprise GIS system and applications. In this role, you will be responsible for providing 1st, 2nd, or Tier 3 support, performing minor system enhancements, troubleshooting issues, and administering GIS services and applications within Con Edison's ArcGIS and ArcFM platforms. You will also be involved in deploying ArcGIS Enterprise (Portal and Server), managing server sites, and ensuring system performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Development & Support:
- Provide development support for minor enhancements using Python, AngularJS, ArcGIS JavaScript API, and ASP .NET (C#).
- Offer technical support for ConEd's ArcGIS and ArcFM-based GIS systems (1st, 2nd, and 3rd tier support).
- Support the development and troubleshooting of ConEd Land base applications.
- System Administration & Monitoring:
- Deploy and administer ArcGIS Enterprise (Portal and Server) environments.
- Administer ArcGIS server sites, ensuring uptime, performance, and security.
- Monitor system performance and apply necessary performance tuning and troubleshooting.
- Service Management:
- Publish GIS services and manage user roles and privileges.
- Coordinate with other internal teams (server support, security, database administration) for seamless operations.
- Provide timely status updates on service tickets to client Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues reported by end users of the Enterprise GIS applications.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure the smooth deployment and operation of GIS services.
- Document and share best practices, lessons learned, and solutions to common issues.
Technical Skills:
Must Have:
- Strong ArcGIS expertise (ArcMap, ArcGIS Server, Portal).
- Experience with ArcFM applications and their integration with GIS.
- Knowledge of ArcGIS Developer tools (ArcGIS JavaScript API, Python, AngularJS).
- Solid understanding of GIS software administration (ArcGIS Desktop, ArcSDE).
- Proficiency in Enterprise GIS administration including service publishing and user role management.
- Troubleshooting experience in an enterprise environment.
- System performance tuning and monitoring.
- Ability to coordinate with other teams (security, DBA, server support).
Nice to Have:
- Previous utility industry experience (Electric, Gas, or other energy utilities).
- Experience with Windows servers.
- Familiarity with FME for GIS land base activities.
- Experience providing 2nd and 3rd tier support and customer service.
Required Qualifications:
- 5-10 years of experience in the administration, support, and development of ArcGIS applications.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Geospatial Science, or related field.
- 5-10 years of experience in ArcFM application support.
- Proven experience in development and coding with technologies such as Python, AngularJS, ArcGIS JavaScript API, and .NET (C#).
- Expertise in deploying ArcGIS Enterprise (Portal & Server) and administering server sites.
- Strong background in system monitoring, performance tuning, and service publishing.
- Experience in managing user roles and privileges in ArcGIS environments.
- Ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams (server support, security, DBA).
- Effective communication skills to provide updates to SMEs and troubleshooting support to users.
Additional Skills (Preferred):
- Utility Industry Knowledge: Experience in the Electric, Gas, or Energy/Utility sectors is a plus.
- Knowledge of FME Suite for GIS Land base management and integration.
- Strong Windows Server knowledge.
