Job Type Part-time Description The Girl Scout mission is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Behind every Girl Scout and volunteer is a team of local staff ready to help them earn that next badge, embark on a camping adventure, or organize an impactful service project. We are Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey (GSNNJ) serving girls in grades K-12 in Bergen, Morris, Passaic, Sussex and northern Warren counties. We bring the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to 19,000 girls and 10,200 adult members. We are looking for energetic, fun, organized, and caring staff to provide memorable experiences to girls in a safe and engaging environment! This position is responsible to further the mission of camp through assisting in the development and delivery of non-competitive archery skills that are safe, fun, and appropriate to campers' ages and abilities, and ensuring safety and wellbeing of campers following New Jersey Department of Health and Youth Camp Services and Girl Scouts of USA. They are responsible for the supervision and care of campers during designated/ specific activities and facilitating delivery of programs within a unit/small group. Requirements Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Supervision of the archery area. This includes but is not limited to participants, volunteers, and staff, procedures, and notifying maintenance of hazards in the area.
- Effectively communicate and work with a diverse group of staff and campers (background/abilities) to encourage full participation in Girl Scouting.
- Maintain instruction ratio of 1 instructor per 10 archers.
- Maintain communication with leaders and/or volunteers regarding participants' behavior and supervision. Leaders and/or volunteers will be actively involved with supervisor of participants while instruction is taking place. Archery Facilitator's supervision will be focused on archers on the line.
- Develop lesson plans for archery session.
- Care of equipment, inventory, and recommendations of equipment available or needed.
- Promote positive morale.
- Membership in GSUSA is required upon employment
Qualifications:
- Minimum age of 18 years old
- Archery USA Certification
- Must be available for either the Fall or Spring Rental Seasons on Saturdays and Sundays
- Ability to use sound judgment regarding safety procedures, knowledge of the sport, knowledge of Girl Scouting, leadership skills, and proven instructional experience.
- The ideal candidate will possess experience which relates to job responsibilities, including successful experience in assisting with developing and delivering sports programs in a prior sports setting, camping, group leadership, and organizational skills.
- The candidate must have experience working with children.
- Individuals must be able to walk around the wooded/uneven campgrounds with ease, use archery equipment (bows and arrows) and move archery equipment and targets from the shed to the archery range.
- Must be able to work at both Lake Rickabear & Jockey Hollow.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
- Must be able to work in a rustic camp environment with limited access to electricity, cell phone service and internet.

- During Program Hours: Site Manager
- Outside of Program Hours: Camp Director and/or Outdoor Program Manager
