Archery & Sports Program Intern- Camp Butternut Springs Looking for a summer internship that makes a difference? Join the Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana 2025 camp staff today! Our Camp Butternut Springs overnight camp is a place where energetic and passionate staff come together to provide a safe and positive learning environment for girls ages 5-17. As an Archery & Sports Program Intern, you will be critical to the success of the summer as you supervise and deliver progressive archery & field sports experiences for campers, including the development and facilitation of archery and traditional and non-traditional sport activities. Work Commitment: Dates: June 1- August 3
- Camp is closed June 19 and July 3-5; these days are unpaid
Weekly Schedule: 11:00 a.m. Sunday-7:00 p.m. Friday
- Daily 2-hour break Monday-Thursday

Qualifications:
- Passionate about working with children and eager to gain experience in youth programming. While prior experience is a plus, we value enthusiasm and a willingness to learn and embrace the challenges of the role
- Enjoys spending time outdoors and interested in working in an outdoor setting
- Willingness to work and, at times, livein an indoor and outdoor camp setting, which includes working irregular hours with limited or simple equipment, rustic facilities, wildlife and insects; limited technology while at camp, and daily exposure to sun, rain, and other weather conditions
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop engaging and educational archery and sports lessons that enhance skills, promote safety, and encourage teamwork.
- Ensure sports activities are age-appropriate and program-specific
- Facilitate archery and field sports activities (i.e. volleyball, large group games, etc.).
- Oversee archery and sports program spaces, including prepping equipment and supplies for use.
- Provide fun and positive leadership to campers, fostering a supportive environment for growth, friendship, and new experiences.
- Demonstrate problem-solving, collaboration, and initiative to campers and staff.
- Assist the Program Director with planning, organizing, and executing camp activities, including leading girl-led programs and ensuring safety standards.
- Oversee campers and staff during activities, meals, and transitions, and deliver programs in your specialty area.
- Assist with managing program supplies, maintaining camp equipment, and ensuring a clean and organized camp environment.
