Job Responsibilities:Investigates and evaluates buildings or project sites to determine existing conditions, feasibility of proposed projects and to establish criteria and requirements for design, including customer program requirements. Evaluates data obtained, incorporating relevant features intodesign consideration and solutions. Projects involve a diverse group of structures, including office buildings facilities, laboratories, warehouses, historical buildings, and other WJHTC facilities.Prepares in-house architectural design documentation, applying the latest design and construction techniques, applicable building code requirements and WJHTC policies.Prepares interior and workstation designs. Document preparation includes drawings, specifications, design analyses, planning budget estimates, and detailed cost estimates necessary for advertised or negotiated procurements and includes evaluation of design and construction objectives, identifying the most economical and efficient design and construction procedures, coordinating with other architects and/or engineers in coverage of all technical areas, resolving overlapping responsibilities among technical disciplines, and meeting total building objectives, space requirements and schedules.Provides professional review, assessment and analyses of architectural design documentation prepared by others, including in-house engineering personnel, for adherence to program requirements, applicable building codes, technical accuracy, adequacy, and WJHTC policies.Prepares architectural scopes of work and detailed fee estimates used for negotiating with A/E firms and office furniture vendors for design services. Provides subject matter expertise to assist with evaluations, selections and administration of vendor contracts. Outlines in detail those architectural and economic factors to be presented to contract firms to facilitate design decisions on major systems from a range of possible alternatives.Assists in administering, monitoring, and managing architectural aspects of construction projects and workstation installation projects. Reviews contractor submittals and proposals for feasibility, adequacy and compliance with design and contract requirements. Recommends approval or rejection of contractor submittals and proposals and confers with contractors to resolve issues. Assists Contracting Officer Representatives in construction inspection activities for architectural work.Prepares necessary visual aids, architectural drawings, sketches, renderings, color boards and physical models for presentation of projects to appropriate officials.Selects furnishings, desks, storage, systems furniture, window treatments, cubicle curtains, wall art, ambient lighting, and building finishes along with all other interior design related elements.Holds conferences and interviews with clients and management to define scope of work, work functions and requirements, and gather information necessary to accomplish a functional design for the end users.Research sources, verifies measurements, provides accurate drawings, monitors, and coordinates installation of furniture, and finishes, and maintains accurate communication and coordination with facility staff, support services and suppliers.Collaborates with architects, PMs, and vendors during the design and implementation of facilities and interior design projects.Prepares drawings, specifications, planning budget estimates, and detailed cost estimates necessary for advertised or negotiated procurements.Education and Experience Requirements:Must be proficient in the use of RS Means CostWorks and AutoCAD.Must possess, at a minimum, a bachelor's degree in architecture from an accredited college or university.For the Senior level, eight (8) years of relevant experience is required. For the Journeyman level, five (5) years of relevant experience is required.#J-18808-Ljbffr
