Title: Architectural History/Environmental Specialist
Location: Atlanta, GA 30308
Duration: 1-year Contract
Job Description:
- Three to five years of professional experience in Architectural History or a related field along with an undergraduate degree in Historic Preservation, Architectural History, or a related field
- Must meet the Secretary of the Interior's Qualification Standards 36 CFR 61 as an Architectural Historian
- Three to five years of professional experience in Georgia as an Architectural Historian, Historian, or Historic Preservation Specialist
- Knowledge of Georgia's architectural styles and typologies
- Experience conducting background research and writing cultural resource reports at a professional level
- Demonstrated documentation and research experience, including National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) eligibility determinations and effects assessments, and architectural surveys
- Experience with the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) Section 106 consultation process
- Experience with cultural resource photography and mapping for basic geographic information system (GIS) and data collection
- Project management, proposal, and budgeting experience
- Experience with NEPA and GEPA
- Ability to qualify as an expert witness
- Ability to conduct onsite field reviews, site assessments, and architectural surveys
- Proficient in ArcGIS programs
Preferences:
- Graduate degree in Historic Preservation, Architectural History, or a related field
- Experience with electric utilities and linear utility projects
- Experience with Federal Energy Regulation Commission (FERC) and/or Nuclear Regultory Commission (NRC)
- Experience with Historic American Building Survey (HABS)/Historic American Engineering Record (HAER) and Permanent Archival Record (PAR) documentation Considered a Plus
- Experience with deed and property research
- Experience with USACE permitting
- Experience in Landscape Design.
