Learn specialized skills with a leader in metalworking.Does installing complex, creative projects in places like major universities, museums, hospitals, hotels, and office buildings get you excited? Then share your technical skills and quality focus with Shickel Corporation as an Installer. Based at our Bridgewater, Virginia headquarters and serving as the face of our company out in the field, you will help install projects on location, including custom metal products such as fabricated assemblies and ornamental and structural steel. You'll interpret work orders, operate forklifts, assist in rigging duties, and assemble metal products. Welding, trimming, filing, grinding, buffing, and smoothing are also required. What it takesHigh school diploma/GED or 3-6 months of related experience or trainingExperience reading and interpreting blueprints, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.Basic math skills.Ability to interpret specs and other instructions, read tape measures, and provide basic layouts with laser levels.Ability to lift or move 50 to 100 pounds, as well as climb to high, precarious places when necessary.Stamina to work outside in all weather conditions. A valid driver's license.What you'll getWe provide a generous salary and benefits package, as well as great per diem rates, and nice company-paid hotels.You will take part in cool, complex, and fascinating projects that you won't find anywhere else and that will challenge you to grow and develop your skills. We've been expanding in ornamental metalworking for years and are now a $20 million a year business with over 120 employees, including approximately 20 Installers. We've built a politics-free environment of teamwork and collaboration where everyone works toward the same goals and people are treated fairly. We offer on-the-job training and career paths, with higher levels within the Installer job track.
