  • Consults with client to determine project requirements
  • Conducts site visits and oversees production of as-builts and record drawings
  • Layout of project and integrating engineering elements into unified design for client review and approval
  • Prepares scale drawings and contract documents for building contractors
  • Prepares and files project documentation and transmittals
  • Administers construction contracts and periodic on-site observation of work during construction to monitor compliance with plans.
  • Performs shop drawing review
  • Prepares and reviews project proposal or plan to understand contracted time frame, fees, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of the project
  • Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project, and arranges for assignment of personnel
  • Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget
  • Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required
  • Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems
  • Coordinates project activities with client, contractor and government regulatory agencies
  • Understands and promotes site safety requirements for construction sites
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of building and structure design, styles of design, and methods of construction of buildings and other physical structures
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret written communication, specifications and drawings
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals or government regulations
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and other discipline specific software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products
  • Valid Virginia driver's license and a satisfactory driving record
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required
  • Valid discipline-specific license in Virginia is required
  • Valid Virginia driver's license is required
