Job Description:

We are seeking a highly organized and motivated Architectural Project Manager to join our team. In this role, you will oversee the planning, design, and construction phases of architectural projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in architecture, exceptional project management skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with clients, architects, engineers, and construction teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project team leadership:

  • Fosters and maintains a collaborative professional working environment.
  • Participates on and/or leads multiple project teams as a Project Manager.
  • Consistently provides complete and timely communication of project information to and from clients and the project team.
  • Provides mentoring of staff.
  • Provides on-going communication through team meetings/minutes/up-date memos to the project team.
  • Clearly understands and assign roles and responsibilities to team members.
  • Communicates with consultants, contractors, sub-consultants and other disciplines to ensure effective communication and coordination.
  • Conduct periodic project performance reviews, with emphasis on lessons learned and continual improvement.

Project planning:

  • Assists senior management in developing and validating project scope, goals, fee, budget, and scope of services during the marketing and contract development process.
  • Develop project work plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocations.
  • Works with the Project Architect to avoid or eliminate conflicts in a schedule due to the changes in various projects.

Financial management:

  • Responsible for managing projects using project management software and other tools including budget, consultants, schedule for completion, fees and costs, as well as scope changes or other actions taking place on the assigned projects.
  • Assists with negotiating fees and contracts.
  • Assists senior management in the preparation and execution of consultant contracts.

Client communication:

  • Responsible for maintaining client relationships throughout the project.
  • Keeps client apprised of project progress on regular basis.
  • Initiates and maintains contact with other key project individuals for clarification, coordination, and negotiation of critical issues.

Design coordination:

  • Overall responsibility for design coordination among team members and consultants.
  • Assists in preparing project presentations.
  • May participate and/or lead client presentations.
  • Manages quality assurance reviews.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture or equivalent in education or experience.
  • 10+ years' experience in architectural practice with management experience in all phases of projects.
  • Project management experience for public institutions including higher education projects preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of design, trends, construction methodology, material application, and manufacturers.
  • Advanced knowledge of architectural building systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of sustainability, AIA Framework for Design Excellence, and integrated design.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Basic proficiency with Revit preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to effectively meet deadlines and financial goals.
