Job Description:

The Operations Manager plays a vital role in driving success across four of our Boston area cafes. You care about the craft of coffee & bagels, the communities that we serve, the teams that we build, and the relationships that grow along the way. You'll be a leader, coach, and problem-solver, working hand-in-hand with store managers to create a thriving environment for your team and optimize daily operations.

What You'll Do With Us
  • Oversee daily operations to ensure the success of our stores, managers, and teams. Respond to store needs by leading from the floor to role model and support teams.
  • Lead store managers by providing direction, coaching, and mentorship to ensure personal development as well as achievement of business goals.
  • Lead a culture of exceptional customer service through human connection across retail locations. Monitor customer feedback and implement strategies to enhance the overall customer experience.
  • Responsible for all aspects of store staffing including scheduling, forecasting, succession planning, and time and attendance.
  • Responsible for accurate ordering and inventory management, analyzing business trends and responding accordingly.
  • Uphold the company's commitment to craft by utilizing quality control tools in coffee and food offerings, adherence to food safety standards, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain store culture and morale ensuring management is regularly providing constructive feedback and working to resolve interpersonal conflict in a respectful manner.
  • Travel to stores, weekends, holidays, and on-call availability required.
What You Bring
  • Three years of successful leadership experience with unit-based store (coffee shop, bakery, salad chain, hotel brand, etc.) recognized for an exceptional service culture
  • Strong understanding of cafe operations including but not limited to: building and leading teams, understanding sales trends, inventory management systems, labor forecasting and planning
  • Ability to plan, multi-task, and manage time effectively. Operate with a sense of urgency while not compromising on attention to detail
  • An engaging communication style with high self and social awareness; trustworthy, direct, and honest; demonstrates integrity and humility
  • A flexible schedule and are available to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong computer skills to include Google Workplace
  • BS degree in business or related field preferred

$70,000 - $75,000 a year

Our Operations Manager positions are dynamic roles. Below are some of the physical demands the job will make of you.

• Ability to stand and walk for a long period of time. You'll be on your feet for most of the day moving between stations & attending to the cafe

• Use of hands to reach, grip & perform specific movements. You'll use your hands to operate a register, handle knives to cut bagels, spread cream cheeses, and serve coffee & tea (among other responsibilities)

• Squat, bend and reach for items below your waist and above your shoulders. For example, you will need to bend down into a fridge to grab the product or go above to grab cups

• Ability to push/pull, lift/carry or move up to 50 pounds. For example, you'll handle gallons of milk, daily food orders, change trashes, and carry dishes

• Climbing stairs and ladders. You may need to use a step ladder to reach something or navigate up & downstairs to access storage areas.
