THE OPPORTUNITY:Area Sales Manager (ASM) This position requires a savvy sales professional who can strategically grow the Yuma, AZ/Imperial Valley, CA territory. An optimal candidate will have 5+ years experience in direct, farm gate sales with an agricultural or agronomy background and some form of field technology, precision ag or similar agtech competency. Ultimately, this role is calling on appropriate farming operations to sell a sophisticated ($700k-$1MM+) farming implement. However, this role does represent the revolutionary merging of different technologies and someone from comparable sales arenas might be the right fit. Our client is very open minded to the right professional with a passion to sell, even without the agricultural orientation. Perhaps you have experience selling high-end, premium priced pharmaceutical equipment, medical/hospital equipment, heavy equipment, robotic devices, etc? The ASM will work with leadership to judiciously plan and execute the territorial sales function of the business, serving as the point person at the farm and dealership levels. Scheduling product demonstrations and managing the area's existing business relationships will both be activities of focus starting day one. These high-end, AI-enabled farming implements require a fair amount of technical acumen so having a precision ag, farm machinery, robotics, or medical device sales or comparable technical sales background is ideal. This territory will also have a Field Support Technician to handle any maintenance and servicing, when needed. THE ROLE DETAILS:Area Sales ManagerLocation: Southern CA/AZ, Yuma/Imperial Valley As an Area Sales Manager, you'll lead direct sales to growers across the defined territory. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive sales, build strong customer relationships, and expand market presence. This role requires a dynamic individual who can exceed sales targets and promote advanced robotics solutions for agriculture. Key Responsibilities:Sales & Revenue Growth:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities
- Close high-value deals and drive product adoption in key agricultural markets
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts and reports
Commercial Relationship Management:
- Build and nurture relationships with farmers, ag organizations, and industry partners
- Represent the company at industry events and conferences
- Serve as the primary customer contact and ensure satisfaction
Market Development & Strategy:
- Provide product development insights based on customer feedback and market trends
- Collaborate on targeted marketing campaigns for the region
- Work with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions and services
- Regularly report on sales performance and identify opportunities
- Contribute to sales process and tool development
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Agriculture, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5-7 years of sales experience, ideally in agritech, robotics, or precision agriculture.
- Strong understanding of agricultural challenges and farmer/grower needs.
- Proficiency in CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) and sales enablement software.
- Knowledge of agricultural robotics, automation, or precision agriculture technologies is advantageous.
- Experience in complex sales cycles, managing multiple stakeholders, and closing large deals.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a large geographic territory.
- Willingness to travel extensively for client meetings, events, and field demonstrations.
