PRIMARY PURPOSE: Plans and implements programs that fulfill regulatory requirements, meet the nutritional requirements for students, promote the development of sound nutritional practices, and maintain a safe and sanitary environment. Responsibilities include developing training for all employees including planning, assisting, and directing work, appraising performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems. Assists with the supervision of the operation of the Child Nutrition Department and ensures compliance with federal, state, and district regulations and policies. Assumes lead role in the food service operations when assigned.
QUALIFICATION: Education/Certification:
- Bachelor's degree (Food and Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Service Management, Marketing or related study preferred).
- Master's degree in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Service Management, Marketing or related fields (preferred)
- Current Food Handler/Food Manager Certification (preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills Knowledge of Human Services common practices for interviewing, evaluation and documentation for employee menu planning, food purchasing and quality food preparation. Knowledge of K-12 food service software including point of sale and back office management modules. Knowledge of health and safety rules and regulations pertaining to Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) principles Experience: A minimum of three years of work experience in a K-12 school district environment or equivalent field of experience.
