The Art Handler is responsible for warehouse and exhibition support including packing, collecting, delivering and transporting furniture and artwork in a safe, secure and timely manner. Full-time, in-house position. Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package.Responsibilities include:
- Safe handling of objects, using appropriate methods of packing, loading and securing property for safe transport and storage
- Rotating works throughout the galleries and warehouses, including loading and unloading trucks
- Communicating in a professional manner with buyers and sellers
- Assisting with storage facility and the receipt and release of property
- Executing necessary paperwork, including property release forms and bills of lading
- Labeling and tagging inventory
- Assisting with exhibition installation and breakdown
- Communicating with warehouse and gallery staff to successfully complete daily tasks and special assignments
- Performing general maintenance duties as needed
- Travel between Doyle's Bronx warehouses, Manhattan gallery and possible travel to transport furniture and fine art within or outside of NYC metro area
Requirements:
- CDL license a plus
- 2+ years of experience in a similar role or related field
- Working knowledge of and experience with careful packing methods and safe moving practices
- Ability to work professionally and responsibly with all levels of staff and clients
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficient in verbal and written English
- Ability to safely handle delicate items and lift up to 70 pounds
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while prioritizing safety and adhering to deadlines
- Ability to multitask
- Comfortable working in private residences, gallery showrooms, warehouses and on a truck
- Driver's license required, with a clean driving record and knowledge of NYC metro area
- Dependable, consistent and punctual attendance required
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
