The Art Teacher will be responsible for providing a classroom/instructional program that supports the individual needs of all children in accordance with the school's mission and values established by the school.Responsibilities and Duties
- Use the state standards and curriculum to create a rigorous and objective-driven arts program
- Use technology tools for instruction, planning, and communication and ensure student engagement
- Eagerly learn new uses and applications of technology tools
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to create interdisciplinary units that teach grade level content knowledge and skills through the arts
- Promote students self-expression and exploration while deepening their knowledge and understanding of art, design and art history
- Incorporate art history in ways that are engaging and meaningful to students and objectives
- Measure student achievement and progress towards learning objectives using the school's formative and summative assessment tools
- Provide ongoing and timely feedback to students on their progress towards meeting expectations and achieving goal
- Communicate effectively and maintain strong relationships with students, families, colleagues and administrators
- Establish, involve, and assist students in the development, maintenance, and evaluation of portfolios
Pay Transparency: The salary range for this role is $62,500 - $77,000. Base pay offered may vary within the posted range based on several factors, including but not limited to education, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. RequirementsQualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of urban teaching experience required with a record of high student achievement
- Knowledge of art and design concepts, a variety of media and materials, and broad range of art history
- Possess broad range of knowledge in a variety of mediums including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, collage, design, and construction
- Bachelors Degree required
- New York State Art Teacher Certification required
