An assembler I duties are defined as the multiple operations performed on product that contain a single fiber within each connector. This product family is expressed generally as Pre-Term or PPS . The operations included but not limited to: cable cut, assembly, polish, visual, end face geometry, optical testing, parts assembly, fusion splicer assembly, and packing. The associate will be required to demonstrate proficiency in use of hand tools for a variety of products. . Though the associate will be cross trained in multiple operations, the associate will be assigned a specific operation that they will perform on a daily basis. The associate will move between operations on an as needed basis only.Major Duties and Responsibilities95% Assigned one of -Pre-Assembly/Assembly/Polish/Test/Shelf/Pack/Parts5% Process improvements/safety/troubleshootingPerform assigned tasks consistently, including a variety intermediate and advanced fiber optic assembly processesFollow OFS Personnel Policies & Safety Procedures and ISO guidelinesResponsible for maintaining a clean work area (5S)Notify support personnel of equipment/process problems in a timely manner in order to minimize down time and maximize efficiency and yieldResponsible for product quality as defined by established procedures and product drawings/specifications Work independently or as a team member at assigned workstation Support and improve production processesSupport continuous improvement efforts- SGA/Quality circlesCounting, sorting, and bagging parts into kits on a daily basisJob QualificationsHigh School Diploma/GEDPrevious manufacturing experience Intermediate Math skills including but not limited to unit conversions, fractions, decimals area and length calculationsFamiliar with a wide variety of hand tools and measuring devicesAbility to read and interpret term sheets and proceduresUnderstanding of Lean Manufacturing, SGA, QC circlesDemonstrate people and communication skills in a team environment
