Assembles protection and control devices, such as switches, lights, relays, contactors, and transformers onto a sub plate or into a control cabinet. Layout drawings and wiring diagrams are used to prepare sub plates and cabinets for the wiring department by performing the following duties. Requirements You may be required to perform any or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assembles electrical control panels, installs components, and sub-plates based upon drawings, instructions, and guidelines in a correct and timely manner.
- Uses manual and powered hand tools to prepare sub-plates and wiring components
- Reads and interprets electrical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, specifications, work orders and mechanical drawings to determine material requirements or assembly instructions.
- Installs a wide variety of electrical components including PLC's, relays, lights, switches, etc. onto a sub-plate and enclosures.
- Adjust, repair, or replace electrical or electronic component parts to correct defects and to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Drill or tap holes in specified equipment locations to mount control units or to provide openings for components, wiring, or instruments.
- Perform necessary hand operations such as deburring, grinding, sawing.
- May operate hand pallet jack or electric lift to move material within shop area.
- May operate overhead crane to move sub plates, cabinets, and material to and from work area.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High School diploma or equivalent, with at least 2 years' experience preferred.
