Role Overview:
The Assembler positions are responsible for basic mechanical assembly and occasionally may perform ground bond testing. This can include crating and packing using hand tools and PIV equipment. The Assembler will demonstrate proficiency in using blueprints, Manufacturing Tracking System (MTS), On Floor Sheets (OFS), and hand tools required in assembly. The Assembler will demonstrate ability interacting with MTS and Quality by driving continuous improvement through active product resolution, reporting turnback's and documenting assembly defects or supplier failures. The Assembler will participate in daily toolbox meetings and ensure shop floor management elements such as Tier 1, QCPC, 5S, Material Review Board (MRB) and other job duties assigned.
What does a typical day look like?
Perform mechanical assembly of basic installation of sheet metal components and hardware installation
Utilize gauges such as calipers and protractors to verify that product dimensions comply with specifications. In the event a nonconformance is detected, perform basic assembly rework on various assemblies.
Utilize PIV for crating and packing requirements
Utilize shop floor management system to drive Tier 1, 5S, and cross-training principles to promote continuous improvement
Participate in required Level 1 OJT and cross-training on Level II assembly
Perform other duties as requested or assigned by supervisor
What will help you in this role?
Basic reading, writing and math ability.
Basic computer applications and use of product documents to ensure product compliance.
Effective communication skills to drive improvement in defect prevention and flexibility to foster learning all Level 1 products/stations and cell configurations.
Ability to train others in product configurations to drive cross-training and knowledge transfer.
Familiarity working in a manufacturing environment
HS diploma or GED required
