Description Summary Production Assemblers will ensure consistent quality and efficient assembly of components through the assembly process. Production assemblers will ensure proper placement and alignment of components using their hands, various hand and power tools as well as jigs and templates to consistently create fully constructed pieces of furniture. Production Assemblers will be detail and quality oriented. This position requires a sense of urgency in keeping up with a fast-paced production environment while maintaining quality and safety requirements. Production Assemblers will enjoy working with their hands and have great dexterity. Essential Functions
- Ability to distinguish colors to ensure correct components are used per the production order
- Ability to work at multiple work stations within the assembly process
- Ability to pull empty aluminum bins from a conveyor system above shoulder height (some people may need to use a stool to reach), and place them on lower bins to begin filling with components for assembly
- Pull machined parts from a portable cart and place the components into the empty bins per order
- Send and receive bins of lumber pieces down assembly line as required
- At each station, different processes in the assembly will be performed - remove components from the bins and assemble as required using hand tools, drills or other machinery as required
- Utilize Jigs or template stations to assist in proper alignment and assembly
- Ensure quality of work of each component
- Place completed component back in bin and send the bin down the conveyor to the next assembly process.
- Inspect product for quality and for plastic debris - remove plastic debris using a brush and/or blade to insure a smooth and clean finish
- Ensure stickers/labels are added to the product
- Structure components for instructions to place into a shipping box
- Ensure all components to put the chair together are accurate and placed in shipping box
- Close and strap shipping box
- If shipping a fully completed item, the item is set at the end of the line after assembly and ready for shipping.
- Maintain a clean and safe work station - includes 'fluff' and debris clean-up
- Ability to maintain equipment and tools in proper working condition
- Ability to assist co-workers when necessary
- Ability to meet production and quality standard requirements
- Ability to work safely following all safety rules and regulations
- Excellent communication skills
Requirements Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to read and communicate in English to follow and understand work instructions
- Ability to use simple math using addition, subtraction, division, multiplication and understanding percentages and fractions.
- Must be able to read a ruler and/or tape measure
- Good manual dexterity in assembly process
- Great attention to detail
- Sense of urgency to meet production assembly standards
- Ability to strictly adhere to all safety standards
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment/tools when necessary
- Prior production assembly experience referred
- Prior experience using hand tools, drills and various other equipment preferred
- Ability to recognize and point out defects
- Ability to use of broom and shovel for 'fluff' clean-up
- Ability to use an air hose when required
- Good Attendance
- Ability to work independently as well as with others
- Reliable transportation to arrive at work on a daily basis
Environment and Physical Demands
- Standing and walking on production floors which are concrete for 10-hour shifts. (rubber matting is provided at work stations)
- Ability to read, hear, speak and understand for problem solving and communication purposes
- Requires basic math skills
- Ability to distinguish colors
- Normal hearing and range of vision
- Ability to learn more than one assembly process - Should know at least one full line
- Requires standing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping, twisting, bending, pushing, pulling frequently though out the work shift
- Required to frequently lift up to 50 lbs. through the assembly process
- May not have allergies to plastic/poly and/or cardboard
- Ability to work in hot/cool work environment
- Ability to work in a noisy work environment
- Floors may become slippery from 'fluff' that is a bi-product of the production process
