We are looking for a highly motivated and engaged leader to oversee our second shift (2:00 PM to 10:30 PM Monday through Friday) assembly operations. This role will be pivotal in ensuring that our assembly processes run smoothly, efficiently, and in alignment with company standards. The Assembly Operations Manager will manage a team of approximately 15 unionized assemblers, drive continuous improvement, and maintain a high standard of safety, quality, and productivity.What You Will Do
  • Supervise, mentor, and support the team of Assemblers; provide ongoing training and development opportunities
  • Foster a positive and collaborative environment that promotes safety, teamwork, and high performance
  • Meet production and quality targets; address operational issues that arise during the shift
  • Maintain effective communication with the union representatives; address and resolve employee concerns in accordance with the union contract and company policies
  • Develop production schedules and budget and manage activities to meet customer demand and financial objectives
  • Coordinate operations and communications among first and second shift as well as various functional areas
  • Establish, monitor, and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Coordinate team members recruitment and selection, career development, and performance assessment
Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field + a minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role
  • Experience working within a union environment is highly desired
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team; excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Solid understanding of electrical and mechanical assembly processes with a proven track record in safety and quality control
  • Able to interact professionally with team members, leadership, and customers
  • Candidates must be US citizens (no dual citizenship) and meet DRS security standards as imposed by DoD, including the issuance of any necessary security clearance by the US government within a reasonable time after commencement of employment
