Primary Function: The Assembly Plant Manager is responsible for achieving operational goals and leading the Production operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams in a high-volume assembly environment. This role requires effective leadership, strategic planning, and a focus on continuous improvement to meet production goals and ensure high-quality output.Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily plant operations including production, maintenance, and manufacturing engineering
  • Collaborate cross-departmentally to identify and resolve operational inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and quality issues
  • Lead, mentor, and develop production, manufacturing engineering, maintenance leadership teams and staff in a union environment
  • Analyze production data and implement corrective actions when necessary
  • Work closely with the Advanced Manufacturing Engineer team on capital expenditure projects and plant modernization planning
  • Manage the assembly operation's annual operating budget to ensure cost control and optimization of resources
  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs to improve safety TRIR rate
  • Promote strong collaboration and teamwork with internal and external business partners
  • Collaborate with senior leadership in the development of performance goals and long-term operational plans
  • Responsible for creating a team environment between many different departments, fostering open communication, and breaking down barriers to efficiencies
  • Drive formal process improvements to increase productivity/efficiency, reduce manufacturing costs, inventory levels, etc.
  • Ensure production meets customer schedules, while maintaining the highest quality standards and plant operating efficiency with optimized resource utilization
  • Lead the development of operating systems and programs to support key business objectives including health & safety, increased production output, continuous improvement, scrap reduction, quality initiatives, and employee engagement and retention
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related, MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • 8-10 years experience in a manufacturing plant management role, high volume assembly environment preferred
  • 1-3 years experience managing operations with multiple processes (Production, Engineering, Maintenance, etc.)
  • Ability to problem solve in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated servant leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams
  • Proven understanding of lean manufacturing principles
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to communicate openly and directly with all levels of the organization
