Job Description:

Elmira Stamping & Manufacturing-North is currently seeking an Assembly Team Lead to join our team. As an Assembly Team Lead, you will playbe responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of the assembly team to ensure efficient and timely production of productions while maintaining quality standards. Additionally, this role offers a fantastic opportunity to work directly with our Leadership Team, with a clear path for career advancement and professional growth.

About Us:

Elmira Stamping & Manufacturing has specialized in medium- to high-volume contract metal stamping, progressive die stamping, and CNC machining since 1970.

Elmira Stamping & Manufacturing specializes in both deep-draw and progressive die stamping. We are equipped with man servo, high-speed, mechanical, and hydraulic stamping presses ranging from 30 to 400 tons. Our machines are optimized for automation with in-die contact and non-contact sensors. We are also experts in secondary put-and-take operations for parts that cannot be completed in a progressive die. Additionally, we have multiple 5-axis Emmegi XT extrusion milling centers with a bed capacity of 30 feet, plus turrets, lasers, and more.

Position Overview

  • Supervise Assembly Team: Directly supervise and lead the assembly team members, including assigning tasks, providing training, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.
  • Workflow Coordination: Coordinate assembly activities to optimize workflow and meet production targets. Monitor production schedules and adjust staffing as needed to maintain efficiency.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that products meet quality standards by conducting regular inspections and implementing corrective actions as necessary. Work closely with quality assurance personnel to address any quality issues.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve problems that may arise during the assembly process, such as equipment malfunctions or material shortages. Collaborate with maintenance and logistics teams to minimize downtime and disruptions.
  • Performance Management: Evaluate the performance of assembly team members and provide regular feedback and coaching. Recognize and reward achievements and address any performance issues through appropriate disciplinary measures or training interventions.
  • Communication: Serve as a liaison between the assembly team and management, conveying relevant information, updates, and concerns. Foster open communication and teamwork within the assembly team.
  • Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality in the assembly department. Solicit input from team members and implement best practices as appropriate.

    • Must be able to multitask while maintaining detail and accuracy.

  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong math and computer skills, ability to use specialized testing tools and machinery.
    • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
    • Ability to read technical documents and blueprints.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Standing: The ability to stand for extended periods of time.
    • Lifting: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
    • Mobility: The role requires the ability to bend, stoop, push, pull and reach.
  • Quality Standards:
    • Ensure all products and parts meet stringent quality standards.

Total Compensation Package:

  • Wage
    • This role is based in the State of New York which requires the disclosure of salary ranges. The expected salary range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00 per hour. Elmira Stamping & Manufacturing provides salary ranges as a good faith estimate of what the company reasonably expects to pay for the position at the time of posting. Compensation offered to a selected candidate may vary based on factors such as (but not limited to) a candidate's job-related qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and geographic location. The expected salary range for this position is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
