About the job Assembly Technician Position Summary:Assists in the fabrication, curing, build-up and assembly of various types of composite materials where required information is readily available, methods and sequences have been predetermined and tooling is provided. Works to blueprints, templates, sample parts, process sheets and other authorized information.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Prepares work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists; gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.Positions parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements.Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit; fastening parts and subassemblies.Verifies specifications by measuring completed component.Resolves assembly problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications; notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources.Performs cleaning operation of partsMaintains components for assembly shopMaintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.Read, interpret and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble equipment and productsUtilize handheld tools such as a handheld screw and drill gunMaintain inventory of product in workstationsPerform quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standardsPerform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures Maintain a clean and safe work areaBe aware of FOD & Tool control at all timesContinuously demonstrate 5S ApplicationRequired participation in internal training as needed to perform the duties assigned to this role.Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)U.S. Person status required do to export controlHigh School Diploma or GED preferred1-2 years mechanical assembly experience preferred•Must be able to verbally communicate, read and comprehend written and verbal instructions in English.Basic reading skills.•Must be able to follow directionsBasic computer navigation and utilization skillsAbility to communicate effectively with coworkers and the management team.Must be well organized, flexible, and able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentMust thrive in a team-oriented and deadline-driven environmentFamiliarity and skill with interpreting technical drawings and blueprintsPhysical Demands and Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee may have to lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds at times. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee must regularly possess manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
