Job Description:

The Optical Assembly Technician will assemble, measure, assess and evaluate optical & physical measurements of optical elements & assemblies. Sets up and operates measurement equipment & records data.

Responsibilities are included but not limited to:

  • Assembles, aligns and tests lenses, components and systems.
  • Sets up and calibrates lab equipment and test fixtures.
  • Identifies technical problems related to sub-assemblies and optical component production.
  • Measures opto-mechanical lens parameters in accordance procedures list and reporting data in an approved format.
  • Maintenance of laboratory files, drawings and data in accordance with ISO requirements.
  • Repair or rework existing assemblies that do not meet testing standards.

Required skills:

  • A demonstrated attitude of cooperation and a desire to continue learning Optical Technology.
  • Ability to read basic engineering drawings and blueprints, experience with micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, optical bench and interferometer measurements preferred.
  • Effective written & verbal communications skills, computer skills.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Unrestricted right to work in United States required

Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform essential functions with or without accommodation: Walking, sitting, standing; Use hands to hold and manipulate small objects as well as operate a computer, other office productivity equipment, etc.; Talking/hearing to Communicate, Convey and exchange information frequently with extreme accuracy; Sight ability to see and manipulate small items, handle, feel and work with delicate parts required.

Education and training requirements:

High School or equivalent required. Associate degree in Optics preferred.
